WHAT is SPEAK STORY?
At Speak Story we are moved by listening and sharing. In a holistic workshop environment we share story telling methods and digital tools where anybody can connect and create. These initiatives lead to healing, well-being, growth, and voice for all involved. We partner with community, business and individual's, to help youth, and their families have a voice, in a safe, well nourished environment. We believe that healing comes from listening and sharing. Creativity is in all of us, with the group, or one on one mentor partnership friendships and education grow the voices of community. PAST PROJECTS
British Council Valuing Voices series. Committed to giving our young people a voice Speak Story worked with 40 young people with varied backgrounds from the far north of New Zealand. Who created their own compelling multimedia stories using apple Iphones. An exhibition was held for 3 weeks in the local gallery. See video on home page.

DIGITAL STORY TELLING
In partnership with Te Oro and Auckland Council, Speak Story ran a week long holiday programme in digital story telling. Collaboration and team work was the focus. The students helped each other, through bonding exercises to determine the plan for the week. We investigated personal creative idea for each student. This included works done with collage, filmmaking and story boarding. |

STREET FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY
In partnership with Te Oro and Auckland Council, Speak Story ran a week long holiday programme in Street Fashion photography. Collaboration and team work being the focus. The students helped each other through bonding exercises to determine the plan for the week. We investigated the idea of fashion story. Where the clothes people choose to wear may have meaning, being given by a friend, has a memory of a special occasion, or a stage in life. That we should not judge others by the clothes they wear. The cultural differences, and the connections we can make by story sharing. Each of the artists were awarded at the end of the week, and an opening of their work was on display for them to share with friends and family.
MULTI MEDIA
This workshop was open to any age from 10-24 year old's. 5 Day Digital story telling workshop
We did story circles, which included, body percussion, collective story games, well being breathing and Qi Gong exercises, We laughed, and talked about how our stories would be created. Each student will be awarded the Speak Story excel award at an opening, 19th October 2017, at Te Oro Glen Innes, Auckland. |

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER
The unique workshop for mothers and daughters, learn photography, as well as discover how each other sees the world. For 6 weeks, 4 hours a week, mothers and daughters bonded and created stories about family, love, life, kids dreams. Through this shared interest mothers and daughters gain insights into how each other views the world. The relationship was taken outside of the every day, and built through a shared interest and experience. The work exhibited at Te Oro, Glen Innes, Auckland. |

DST PHOTOGRAPHY
SPEAK STORY has partnered up with Teo Oro, Auckland Council to run a series of community workshops. Digital story telling is exciting, empowering, creative and meaningful to a wonderfully clever group of 12 years old's who created these stories. They had a small distance to work in, but came up with stories on nature preservation, human connection, people who make a community, making different healthy choices and more. |

INTERFAITH
Partnered with Auckland Council and the Moving Image Centre (MIC). The workshop was with a group of women from different backgrounds, each with a unique story. Interfaith Project enabled the woman to learn the art of video production, empowering and creating space, transforming lives through the act of creating and sharing stories. |

HUMANS OF HENDO
In 2011 Serena Stevenson partnered with Toi Ora Live arts to develop the first digital story telling workshop for the trust, titled ' Express Yourself'. Working in mental health and with youth. This project lead to the 2015 access community research pilot programme for Toi Ora, 'Humans of Hendo'. Mentoring and workshops with Alt Education youth in West Auckland Henderson. |

BEYOND DOCUMENTARY
Beyond Documentary is a multi media photographic documentary project that provides teenage early school leavers with the skills to record their own photographic documentary stories using photography, sound and text recorded with technology that exists within the community including mobile phones, digital cameras and the internet. The story was shared as a blog site, on LCD screens in the Westfield shopping Centre Manukau, and as Street posters, during the Manukau Festival of Arts 2009. This project outcome lead to the creation of a MIT design portfolio, where Annie was accepted into art school. |
